Processing / Coordinated to the order

Processing is a route,
not a menu.

Cutting, forging, machining, heat treatment and surface preparation are coordinated against the drawing, the material and the point at which the part must be ready for the next operation.

01 / Service scope

Six steps that must
agree with each other.

Each service is quoted as part of the ordered route. A cutting tolerance that ignores packing, or a treatment step that is added after machining, creates avoidable risk.

01

Cutting to length

Pipe, bar and shaft material cut to the required order length. Finished length, quantity and allowable tolerance should be stated together.

02

Forging coordination

For shaft products and heavier components, the forging route is discussed from grade, geometry, allowance and downstream machining requirement.

03

Machining support

Rough and finish machining requirements are read from the drawing. Datums, key dimensions, tolerances and surface requirements must be explicit.

04

Heat treatment

Quenching and tempering, normalizing or other agreed treatment is coordinated when the grade and application require it. The condition and test scope are stated in the order.

05

Surface preparation

Basic cleaning, peeling, bright surface or other preparation is matched to the product type and the condition required on arrival.

06

Export packing

Packing is planned around size, weight, transport method, handling and the protection needed for the agreed route.

02 / Route by product

The same service means
different work.

A cutting instruction for pipe is not the same as a machining instruction for a shaft. The table shows which processing questions belong to each product form.

Processing coordination by product family. Dimensions and tolerances are confirmed per inquiry.

No stock size range is implied by this page. Availability, tolerances and documentation are confirmed against the actual inquiry and agreed order.

03 / Drawing review

The drawing sets
the sequence.

For custom work, the review starts with the drawing. Dimensions that remain open, unclear tolerances and undefined treatment requirements are raised before work is quoted.

The output is not a promise that every feature can be produced in one pass. It is a shared route: material, process, inspection and packing, in an order that supports the drawing.

  • Overall and sectional dimensions, including unfinished areas.
  • Datums and critical tolerances — not only the nominal size.
  • Surface condition and any treatment requirement.
  • Inspection or hold points before the part moves on.
  • Marking, protection and packing expectations.
  • Any standard, test or third-party requirement.

04 / Checks in the route

Inspection does not wait
for the packing line.

Inspection points are placed where they can still affect the outcome. For processed parts, that means agreeing what is measured, when and by whom before production begins.

  • 01
    Incoming material

Grade and document references checked against the ordered requirement.

  • 02
    In-process dimensions

Key characteristics checked at the agreed stage, before later operations cover them.

  • 03
    Treatment condition

Treatment records or hardness requirements reviewed within the agreed scope.

  • 04
    Final visual and size

Surface, damage, marking and key dimensions checked before packing.

  • 05
    Packing record

Packing method, bundle identity and shipment marks reviewed before dispatch.

05 / What to send

A quotable
processing inquiry.

The more precisely the route is described, the fewer assumptions are carried into the quotation. Send the following as one package; partial information can still start a review, but open points will be returned for confirmation.

  • Product type and material grade or standard.
  • Size, quantity and finished length or drawing dimensions.
  • Required processing method and sequence.
  • Tolerance, surface and heat-treatment requirements.
  • Inspection, test or third-party requirements.
  • Destination port, delivery terms and packing preference.

Procurement FAQ

Processing questions

Processing is only as reliable as the information attached to it. These answers set out what is confirmed before work is quoted.

Can you machine from my drawing?

Machining support can be coordinated from a drawing. Send the material, dimensions, tolerances, surface and treatment requirements, quantity and inspection points. Feasibility and route are confirmed before quotation.

Who confirms the tolerances?

The buyer's drawing and technical specification are the basis. Any dimension or tolerance that is missing or unclear is raised for confirmation; no default tolerance is invented for a custom part.

Can heat treatment be included?

Heat-treatment support can be coordinated when the order specifies the condition. State the required hardness or mechanical property, the applicable standard and the test scope so the route can be checked.

Is forging always required for shafts?

No. The route depends on finished geometry, material, mechanical requirements and the agreed technical specification. Forging is one option reviewed during the drawing assessment, not an automatic step.

Can supply and processing be quoted together?

Yes. One inquiry can cover material, processing, inspection and packing. Each line should still be defined separately so the quotation shows what is included.

Can third-party inspection be arranged?

Third-party inspection or special testing can be discussed when it is stated before quotation. The scope, timing, access and document requirements are confirmed for the specific order.

Send the drawing set.
Define the route.

Include the drawing, grade, quantity, required process, tolerance, treatment, inspection points and destination. Mark anything still open for discussion.
